I shouldn’t have

I did
I should have known
Better
Than to DO the things
I did
But words once
Spoken
Can never be RETURNED
A lesson that has
Taken
So much pain
In order
For
Me to LEARN

You made me…..DO it!
You made me…..FEEL
This way
Were only a few of the
EXCUSES
I
Used
I didn’t want to take
RESPONSIBILITY
I wanted someone
Else to PAY!

For my insecurities
Well
Till
Even
Stubbornness
Had to shout out
“I’m gone….”


You see
In this life
If only’s
Are for those who
Cannot get beyond their PAST
I can’t(s)
Are for those willing
To settle for wearing MASKS
Hiding discontents from
Those who love them
The MOST
Just because the pressures
Of becoming a failure
Keeps them at bay
Just in case
Any man
Should BOAST
About the pleasures
Life can bring

I’m now taking STOCK
Of life’s
INVENTORIES
Sharpening my TOOLS
Having a total
Make over
And I’m about to Make
My ENTRY
KNOWING the lessons that I have learnt are far from
ELEMENTARY
No school teacher to instruct
No chalk boards to copy off
This time its EXPERIENCE
That will decide
If I make the grade or NOT!
